Professional photoshoots in Dijon start from €279. Packages vary by duration and the number of edited photos — an hour covering the Place de la Libération and the old town lanes, or two hours that add the vineyard slope at Marsannay and the start of the Route des Grands Crus. The Place de la Libération in front of the ducal palace, empty and reflective at first light. The half-timbered lanes north of it — Rue des Forges, Rue Verrerie, Rue de la Chouette — linked by the brass owls set into the pavement. The gargoyle rows and Jacquemart clock on Notre-Dame. Early morning. The Place de la Libération is empty before eight and the pale stone takes the low sun; by ten the terraces are set out and the lanes are busy. Evening blue hour works too, with the palace lit. For season, May to October is comfortable; the vineyards south of the city are green from June and gold from late September into mid-October.

The streets, the Place de la Libération and the outside of Notre-Dame are public and free. Notre-Dame is a working church, so a session inside waits out services and keeps quiet. Climbing the Tour Philippe le Bon is guided, ticketed and needs booking — check availability first. In the vineyards at Marsannay, stay on the tracks: every parcel is privately owned and worked.

This happens all the time, and our family photographers are prepared for it. The secret is that the best family photos don't come from asking kids to pose — they come from play. There's no wrong age — each stage photographs differently and beautifully. Babies bring quiet, tender close-ups; toddlers bring motion and hilarious candid moments; school-age kids love the adventure of exploring châteaux and beaches on camera; teens relax once they realise nobody is forcing stiff poses.
