Photographers in Antibes

Antibes keeps its old town behind sea ramparts, and the rampart walk is the session's spine: stone walls dropping to the water, the snow-capped Alps floating behind the bay on clear winter days, and the Picasso museum's square tower above it all. Inside the walls, the lanes around the Cours Masséna market are ochre and shuttered and shoot well once the stalls pack up in early afternoon. Plage de la Gravette, tucked inside the harbour wall, gives a sandy cove with the old town as a backdrop. Port Vauban adds scale — superyachts stern-to under Fort Carré — and works as a blue-hour frame. The wilder card is the Cap d'Antibes coastal path from Plage de la Garoupe: bare rock, pines and open sea, made for couples, but it closes in heavy swell and the wind can be serious, so hold a rampart plan B. Sunset itself belongs to the Juan-les-Pins side of the cape.
