About The bay of Agay

Get directions

A little east of Cap Dramont, the coast curls into the bay of Agay, the most sheltered anchorage on the Estérel: a curve of sand and fine shingle, fishing boats and yachts swinging on their moorings, a small village behind, and over all of it the Rastel d'Agay, a dome of red rock that turns from rust to copper as the sun goes down.

This is the gentle version of the Estérel — water calm enough to wade into, a beach for children and a promenade for a slow walk — which makes it a natural family location. From the far side of the bay, the view back takes in the whole curve with the red mountain on top.

Tips

In July and August the beach fills by late morning — book the end of the day. Agay has its own train stop, so a car is optional.
