Lake Disney and the Village promenade

Lake Disney sits between the hotels and Disney Village, with a paved promenade running right round it. It is the opposite of everything inside the parks: open water, a wide sky, room to move, and hardly anyone standing where you want to stand. It is also outside the turnstiles, so nobody needs a park ticket to be here.

The last hour of the afternoon is the shot. Light comes low across the water, the hotel facades on the far side turn warm, and the lake goes still enough to hold a reflection. Later, once the Village signs come on, the same promenade gives you colour on the water — good for a couple, and forgiving because the light is even and there is no crowd pressing against the frame.

The Village itself is a strip of restaurants, shops and a cinema. Photographically it is more useful for its lights and awnings after dark than in daylight, and it is easy to combine with the lake in one walk.

This is still resort property with its own rules, and the resort can say no to anything that looks like a production. Ask Guest Relations if you are planning more than a couple with a camera; for a normal walking session with no stands and no lighting, nobody minds.
