Central Plaza and the castle

Central Plaza is the circular space where Main Street meets the castle, and it is the frame everyone comes for: the pink and blue towers filling the end of the street, flower beds and lamp posts leading into them. It works from the middle of the plaza for the symmetrical version, and from the edges for a version with the street's rooflines running in from one side.

Timing is the entire game. In the first thirty minutes after opening you can stand where you like; by mid-morning the plaza is a slow-moving crowd with buggies and queue rails, and by parade time it is closed off entirely. In summer the early hour also gives you low light down the length of the street, which is the only soft light the plaza gets all day.

This is inside the parks, so the rules apply and they are not flexible: no tripods, no monopods, no extension poles over 20 cm, nothing that could be taken as commercial or promotional equipment, and pictures for personal use only. Your photographer is there on a ticket, working handheld, exactly like every other guest with a camera. Check the current rules on the official site before the day, because they can change without notice.

Practical: the plaza is the busiest crossroads in the park. Keep the session short, keep out of the walkways, and expect to be moved on if a parade is due.
