About Courchevel & the Three Valleys
Courchevel is not one place but four, stacked up the side of the Saint-Bon valley in Savoie and each with its own character. Le Praz, lowest at about 1,300 metres, is the original hamlet — dark timber farmhouses, a small lake, a church, and the twin Olympic ski jumps built for Albertville in 1992 standing over the roofs. Above it Courchevel Village and Moriond climb the slope, and at 1,850 metres the top station is the one people mean by the name: the Croisette, where the pistes come down to the street, and a short run of chalets and shops behind it.
