The cliff path east of Bonifacio, which puts the whole haute ville on its undercut limestone shelf in one frame, and the Escalier du Roi d'Aragon below it; the Calvi citadel above its bay and pine forest; Palombaggia and Santa Giulia near Porto-Vecchio for umbrella pines over pale sand; and the red porphyry of the Calanche de Piana at sunset. The Scandola reserve is boat-only with landings forbidden, so it is photographed from the water.

It is one of the best in France for both, because the island trades crowds for distance. A dawn proposal on the Bonifacio cliff path is private in a way the Riviera never is, and elopements work beautifully on the Calvi bay or a Porto-Vecchio beach at first light. Two practical points: getting anywhere on the island is slow rather than far, so give the day margin; and the wind can rewrite a coastal plan without warning, which is why a photographer here always carries an inland alternative.

May, June and September are the sweet spot: the sea is already or still swimmable, the light is long, and the beaches and cliff paths are not yet the July and August crowd. High summer is hot and busy and the island fills with ferry traffic from Nice and Marseille; spring adds green hills and snow still lying on the Monte Cinto ridge behind Calvi, which is a gift for wide frames. Book early for the shoulder months — the island's rooms and flights sell out before the beaches do.

For peak-season dates — May through September, and especially Saturdays in Provence, the Loire or on the Riviera — book 6-12 months ahead. The best-reviewed photographers are often the first vendors to sell out after the venue itself. Shoulder-season and weekday weddings are far more flexible; three to four months is usually comfortable. If your date is closer than that, don't assume it's hopeless: availability shifts, and Photo France can check the whole vetted roster for your date at once instead of you emailing photographers one by one. A classic full wedding day — getting ready through the first dances — runs 8-10 hours. French weddings run famously long: dinner often starts at 9pm, the pièce montée arrives near midnight and the dancing goes until dawn; if your party will peak at 2am, budget coverage for it or arrange a set finishing time you're at peace with. One France-specific tip: in June and July the sun sets after 9:30pm, so schedule couple portraits around that golden window rather than the ceremony's end — your photographer will plan the whole timeline around it. Discuss your running order with your photographer and they'll recommend honest hours, not maximum hours.
