The golden rule is to coordinate without matching — complementary colors and classic styles that reflect your personality. Solid, muted tones (cream, navy, sage, terracotta) photograph beautifully against Paris' limestone façades, Provence's ochre villages and the Riviera's blue. Avoid busy patterns, large logos and neon colors. Comfortable shoes matter: Montmartre's cobbles are steep, Èze is all stairs, and lavender fields are dusty. Bring a second outfit for variety on longer sessions, and a light layer for breezy evenings on the coast or by the lakes. Golden hour — shortly after sunrise or before sunset — gives the most flattering, warm, romantic light. In France, sunset ranges from around 5pm in winter to almost 10pm in summer, so plan accordingly. Sunset sessions on the Seine or above the Mediterranean at Èze are legendary, but they're also the busiest hours; sunrise shoots give you the Trocadéro, the Louvre courtyard or Annecy's old town nearly to yourselves. Midday works too in shaded old-town lanes, but the strong southern summer sun needs an experienced photographer. The cliff path east of Bonifacio, which puts the whole haute ville on its undercut limestone shelf in one frame, and the Escalier du Roi d'Aragon below it; the Calvi citadel above its bay and pine forest; Palombaggia and Santa Giulia near Porto-Vecchio for umbrella pines over pale sand; and the red porphyry of the Calanche de Piana at sunset. The Scandola reserve is boat-only with landings forbidden, so it is photographed from the water.

It is one of the best in France for both, because the island trades crowds for distance. A dawn proposal on the Bonifacio cliff path is private in a way the Riviera never is, and elopements work beautifully on the Calvi bay or a Porto-Vecchio beach at first light. Two practical points: getting anywhere on the island is slow rather than far, so give the day margin; and the wind can rewrite a coastal plan without warning, which is why a photographer here always carries an inland alternative.
