Local pâtisseries make smash-friendly cakes on short notice — ask for simple génoise sponge with soft cream; fondant photographs beautifully but resists smashing, defeating the purpose. Bring a change of clothes, wipes, and a sense of humour about sand in the frosting; it's part of the genre. Sessions typically pair fifteen clean portrait minutes before the cake with the smash itself, so you get both versions of the birthday child.
