The Promenade du Clair de Lune to the Pointe du Moulinet

The Clair de Lune runs along the sheltered side of the town, and the shelter is the point: palms, agaves, mimosa and other things that have no business growing at this latitude thrive on the slope above the path. On summer evenings the whole promenade is lit and set to music, which is either an opportunity or a crowd, depending on the plan.

Walk it north and it climbs to the Pointe du Moulinet, a small public terrace ringed by the turreted villas that made Dinard famous. From there the water is turquoise below, the ramparts of Saint-Malo and the Fort National sit square across the estuary, and there is nothing else to arrange.

The bay faces east, so the promenade takes clean morning light while the headland is better late, when the sun swings behind Saint-Malo and lights the villas instead. The path is narrow and shared with walkers and the ferry queue for the Bus de Mer, so keep sessions moving rather than blocking a bench.
