Most couples sessions last 60 to 90 minutes, enough time to visit 2-3 locations and capture a wide variety of natural, relaxed moments together. In Paris you might start at the Trocadéro with the Eiffel Tower behind you, cross the Pont de Bir-Hakeim and finish in the quiet lanes of Montmartre; on the Riviera your photographer will route you through Èze's stone passages before the tour groups arrive. The golden rule is to coordinate without matching — complementary colors and classic styles that reflect your personality. Solid, muted tones (cream, navy, sage, terracotta) photograph beautifully against Paris' limestone façades, Provence's ochre villages and the Riviera's blue. Avoid busy patterns, large logos and neon colors. Comfortable shoes matter: Montmartre's cobbles are steep, Èze is all stairs, and lavender fields are dusty. Bring a second outfit for variety on longer sessions, and a light layer for breezy evenings on the coast or by the lakes. Golden hour — shortly after sunrise or before sunset — gives the most flattering, warm, romantic light. In France, sunset ranges from around 5pm in winter to almost 10pm in summer, so plan accordingly. Sunset sessions on the Seine or above the Mediterranean at Èze are legendary, but they're also the busiest hours; sunrise shoots give you the Trocadéro, the Louvre courtyard or Annecy's old town nearly to yourselves. Midday works too in shaded old-town lanes, but the strong southern summer sun needs an experienced photographer. Professional photoshoots in Les Baux and Saint-Rémy start from €310. Packages vary by duration and the number of edited photos — from an hour in the village lanes at opening to a longer morning that adds the olive groves, Glanum and the Alpilles ridges.

The castle plateau at the top of Les Baux for the widest view in the Alpilles, with the Val d'Enfer quarry landscape below; the pale stone lanes and archways of the village; the olive terraces on the road down. In Saint-Rémy: the plane-tree boulevards, the cloister of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole where Van Gogh spent a year, the wheat field beyond its wall, and the Roman arch and mausoleum of Glanum standing in open ground across the road.

It is possible and it is difficult, so treat it as an experiment rather than the backbone of a session. The old quarry hall projects paintings across walls thirteen metres high: the light is beautiful, constantly moving and very dim, tripods are not allowed, and the room is shared with everyone else. A couple of striking frames are realistic; a full portrait set is not. Book the village and the Alpilles for the session and the Carrières as a bonus at the end.
