The Bonifacio cliff path
White limestone cliffs undercut by the sea, the old town balanced on the edge of them, and the Grain de Sable stack standing offshore.
Sobre The Bonifacio cliff path
Cómo llegarEast of the citadel, a coastal path runs along the cliff top with the whole of Bonifacio laid out to the west: a medieval haute ville sitting on a shelf of white limestone that the sea has hollowed out beneath it, the strata running in horizontal bands, and the Grain de Sable — a lump of cliff that fell into the water and stayed upright — in the foreground below. There is no arrangement of this view that does not work; the only decision is how much sea to give it.
Morning is the answer for the town itself: the sun comes from the east and lights the limestone and the houses face-on, while an afternoon shot has them in their own shadow. For the couple in the frame that means back to the sea, front-lit, with the cliffs behind — and the light is clean here, without haze, well into the middle of the morning.
The path is unfenced in places and the drop is 60 metres, so this is a walk-carefully location: stay on the marked track, keep small children close, and do not step out onto the overhangs for a better angle — the rock is the kind that falls. Wind is the other constant; it comes across the Bouches de Bonifacio most days, and it will find every loose piece of fabric.

Consejos
Stay on the marked path — the cliff edge is unfenced and undercut in places. The strait is windy most days; plan hair and dresses for it rather than hoping.
